We will drive for about 25 minutes from the Jaco area to Carara National Park. This incredible protected area measures around 4,700 hectares and is home to approximately 48% of Costa Rica's bird species. This tour will show you the importance of the region as it is in a transition region between the tropical dry forest and the humid Pacific Pacific forest.
This sanctuary is populated by different species of birds and animals, among them the white-faced and howler monkeys, iguanas, toucans, trogons y scarlet macaws, the main attraction of the city.
After admiring nature during your walk in the park, you will enjoy our famous boat tour on the Tárcoles River for a unique experience of crocodiles and wildlife watching, through this important ecosystem. Our captain will surely look for the largest crocodiles in the river for you to enjoy a great close encounter with these magnificent reptiles. You will be surprised by the great diversity of birds that we find in this area. Your guide will point out different types of mammals, birds, and reptiles that flourish in this mangrove.
Depending on the season you will be able to see different species of migratory aviary; from October to April you can see ospreys, seagulls, cormorants, pelicans, and frigates. The Tárcoles River is a refuge for approximately 56 types of birds and is a refuge for the famous scarlet macaws.
